Demons Among Us

H/t MacKay

History teaches us that the capacity to demonize 'the other' seems almost limitless. Whether it be the Jew, the Black, the Roma, the Indigenous, or any other group, there will always be those who find people unfit to be members of society. Hence the role of propaganda, allegations of the darkest of atrocities and depravities, the subtext being obvious.  After all, if they are not really human, what's to be upset about if we have to wipe them out?

For whatever reason, transgender issues seem to currently feed the bloodlust of the depraved. As a previous post pointed out, Montana recently ejected a transgender legislator for indecorous behaviour, her outrage over an edict under consideration to ban any transgender care to minors her 'crime'.

Not to be outdone, Missouri has upped the ante.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey put forward emergency rules placing barriers to gender-affirming care for minors and adults. The rules are set to go into effect later this week, although opponents filed a petition Monday evening seeking an order to temporarily block implementation.

Bailey says the rules are meant to keep both parents of transgender youth and transgender adults more informed before receiving gender-affirming care, describing them as an "innovative approach" for people to "have all the information necessary to make good decisions."

As always, the devil is in the details (not 'the other'), so feel free to read the whole story in the above link. However, both the reality and the toll of such diseased politics are made abundantly clear in the following video:

Life can be very difficult in and of itself. Is purposely increasing the hardships people bear really something anyone should be proud of?

    1. It really is amazing, isn't it, Sal, that qualities as basic as consideration, fairness and kindness are so elusive for so many?

  2. I have said it elsewhere
Teaching and correcting and helping the young or the delusional was the responsibility ...
Not accommodating, encouraging and pandering to the illusions and misplaced feelings and that leads the immature to a life long dependancy on hormones, genital mutilation, sterility for individuals who can't identify their own body parts
These are children, imaginaries and fantasy ,wishful thinking and trying on personaes and pretend are part of their game. It is horrible for adults to fixate and encourage a single fantasy of such devastating consequences which without encouragement (and encouragement now is everywhere) is just a passing phase.
For the rest .... why bait the haters ? A parade to celebrate your sex life? Go home. Gay, lesbian and heteros have lived together for centuries. Quietly. But if you want to find the crazies , just parade.

    1. As I have indicated before, lungta, I am certainly no expert when it comes to the transgendered. I am certainly in agreement with you that drastic measures, such as gender surgery, are not to be taken likely nor at a young age. However, I am strongly opposed to what is tantamount to an attack on people who experience gender confusion. If you watched the above video, you will notice that the CPAC speakers uses words like "eradicate" and "ideology," words that echo some dark historical sentiments.

Unlike you, I do not think that for those who are truly suffering, something the video also makes clear, this is just a passing fancy or trying on a new identity. No doubt that occurs, which is why I stand firmly opposed to gender-altering surgery for children. However, adults presumably are in a better position to decide their own fates. As well, even for those experiencing "a phase", there is no reason to dismiss, attack and/or ostracize them in schools, larger society, or legislative bodies.

    2. truly suffering,? Being allowed and encouraged to get it wrong does have consequences and being wrong a long time doesn't justify it as correct and me pretending they are right will not be helpful and asking all of society to change because they cannot believe they were born with a penis or vagina is a pretty big ask.
If they insist on making this issue 100% of their social visibility then dismisal, attack and ostracism will inevitably follow as will suffering when told it is only a self held mental construct.
We used to rely on reality therapy where the neglected and abused disassociated were reintroduced to reality generally breaking the trance of self absorbed delusion.
Painful and shocking to find out your not napoleon or the new messiah or alice for that matter but necessary for any actual happiness .
Proper healing and reversing course with this ideology would have been better terminology. Or what's the next normalization of pretend? trans race? trans genius? trans royalty? trans species?

I never saw the need for gay marriage until I realized that your partner of 40 or 50 years could be refused any influence in your health treatment if yu were in a coma. Partner's parents/sibings whom he/she might not have even spoken to for that 40-50 years could even deny you access to the hospital room. All of a sudden, gay marriage make sense.

    1. Makes sense, given the legal implications you outline here, Anon. Thanks.

      You have my vote!
      Perhaps it's the Facebook Syndrome?
Everyone has to be 'Liked" ?
Just existing and being inconsequential has become de rigueur..
To be sure the proliferation of social media has lead to antisocial behaviour?
Much the same could be said about the internet in general where the mass of previously unobtainable information has lead to an overload for the less knowledgeable?

    3. I will say that some of the public displays during gay pride parades are not to my taste, TB, but I think the larger point that parades and flag-flying are trying to make is the adamant refusal by people of various orientations to live their lives quietly or in the closet, as they have for centuries. What may appear as in-your-face by some observers will be seen by others as expressions of who they are. I do admire their refusal to grovel, hide or beg for public acceptance, the kind of acceptance that is readily accorded to heterosexuals.

  4. Sorry to say , Lugunta and Deadwildroses take it to the extreme.
    I m not a fan of any in your face , take me as I am , fuck the consequences or other opinions attitude;
We have to have common ground that is science based!!
I am guessing the choices will be difficult to come by!
We must also separate our vises and virtues attitude from the real and pragmatic less we find ourselves living in a theocracy for the impetus for these sexual based discussions and ( USA) decisions is rooted within the evangelical church.

    1. The drift toward theocratic thinking is something we all need to guard against, TB. Even though it is associated mainly with the U.S. in North America, we are clearly not immune to it here.

  5. Thanks for the link, TB. The list of countries is long and chilling, a testament of what happens when religious 'principles' are allowed to guide government policy-formulation. I can also think of several U.S. states where capital punishment for homosexuality would be welcomed with relish, if they thought they could get away with it.
