Hmm, about as believable as his Sgt. Shultz-like assertion that he 'knew nothing' about Russia offering the Taliban a bounty on the lives of American soldiers in Afghanistan, eh?
It's becoming more difficult to see how Americans can pull out of this crash dive. The enmity that one group holds for the other runs so deep. Perhaps the coronavirus might cull the ranks of old, white Americans sufficiently to do that country some lasting good. For it is our generation, Lorne, that empowers people like
ReplyDeleteTrump. They imagine he will somehow restore the US to what they experienced of it in the 60s and 70s. They want a return to white supremacy. They fear non-whites, always have, only now they're alarmed by a demographic shift that endangers their domination. Take heart. If the pandemic doesn't get them the climate change impacts looming in the near future will prey hardest on their frailties. As we've seen in Paris and elsewhere, climate breakdown exacts a terrible toll on the elderly.
There would appear to be little chance of escaping a major reckoning, Mound, for the world in general and the Americans in particular.
