The comments of guest panelist Althia Raj, from The Huffington Post, are worth the price of admission here as she declares, in no uncertain terms, that The Fair Elections Act is legislation aimed at voter suppression. In reaction, the attempt at stoicism by Peter Mansbridge, currently embroiled in his own controversy, is also noteworthy, in my view. The fun begins at about the 12:30 mark:
It's pretty blatant, isn't it, Lorne. And they call it "fair."
ReplyDeleteJust another example of the debasement of language and so many other things that has taken place under this regime, Owen.
DeleteAlthia impresses me. She would be a really good permanent addition to the panel in place of Bruce Anderson who often comes across as being kind of wishy washy (in fairness, he does seem to have improved lately).
ReplyDeleteAlthia would also balance the panel since Coyne is a known fiscal Cons and Hebert is kind of in between (more difficult to figure out her leanings).
But don't hold your breath, especially now that we are beginning to learn more about the leanings of our State Broadcaster. :)
As I watched her spirited and assertive commentary last night, Anon, I couldn't help but wonder whether The Corporation might be reluctant to invite Althia back, given her trenchant criticism of the Harper regime.
DeleteRex Murphy described as "freelancer" in the Mansbridge story is incorrect. It should be "freeloader". CBC was one media outlet that Canadians expected to be objective. There goes that objectivity. Now we're complete Corporatocracy as all distractions (media) have been removed.
ReplyDeleteI watch Power and Politics ( parts of it) and I was surprised yesterday that there was discussion on gun control and only pro-gun supporters in this discussion were invited.
Just before receiving this from you, LD, I read your blog and left a comment about the gun control discussion yesterday. All in all, the entire episode seems strangely suspicious to me, as I point out on your blog.
DeleteThanks for this.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Anon.
