Say what you will about Piers Morgan, but the following interview is hard-hitting and apt. I can't imagine North American journalists going after someone in this manner.
Well done by
Piers: How many Hamas have you killed?
Israeli spokesman: 14,000
Piers: And how many civilians?
IS: IDK
Piers: How can you say you're careful about civilians if you don't even know how many you've killed???
IS:
Remember this..
ReplyDeleteThe project quotes the top US general in Iraq, Tommy Franks, as saying "We don't do body counts". Franks gave this terse answer ("You know we don't do body counts") at Bagram Air Base in answer to journalists’ questions on counting casualties during Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan.[6][7]
Like Afghanistan ,Palestine will soon be forgotten.
TB
I do hope that isn't the case, TB, but it would follow a long pattern of amnesia if it is.
DeleteThe stunning thing for outsiders is what we can see everyday, the children being killed and maimed. I see or hear no evidence from spokespeople like this, that Israel even cares about the Gaza children.
DeleteJohn W.
The images are haunting, John, and I find I can barely watch them. The suffering is palpable, and it cannot be ignored.
DeleteRwanda revisited!
ReplyDeleteThe similarities are many.
Lets start with the absence of known natural resources!
I never thought that Piers had any conscience beyond his paycheque; I was wrong.
TB
We tend to forget the atrocities of the recent past, no doubt, TB. The Middle East always seems to be in the headlines, but we shall see if this humanitarian crisis is any different than past ones.
DeleteRwanda never caught the imagination of the public or the youth.
ReplyDeleteThis time, for whatever reason , it's different.
The reaction to palestine is more like vietnam war like!
Perhaps with similar results.

DeleteI have thought back to the protests in my time, TB, especially the ones against the Vietnam war. That young people are so similarly galvanized over the Palestinian plight gives me at least a little hope for our species.
DeleteI see that your fellow ProgBlogger has become a one-man agency for disseminating pro-Zionist agitprop.
ReplyDeleteThis calls to mind an opinion piece that he filed during his first freebie junket to Israel many years ago.
He wrote that, as his aircraft came in to land he noticed there was a line. One one side the land was relatively barren. On the other it was lush and green. This showed, he argued, that the Israelis were good stewards of the land whereas the Palestinians were - he left that for the reader to conclude they were undeserving.
What he omitted was that the settler-occupied territory was so lush because the Israeli army of occupation controlled access to the Palestinian aquifer whereas Palestinians were denied their own water.
My impression is that this scribbler knows all too well on which side his bread is buttered and will take every opportunity to ingratiate himself with his benefactors.
I have noticed his posts, Mound, but have not read them beyond a line or two. It is clear there is no critical thinking going on there.
ReplyDeleteT-Rex has shuffled off this mortal coil to take up residence in the land of the deranged. The oil patch had no better friend.
ReplyDeleteThat news was the highlight of my morning reading, Mound. He will be missed by those he championed.
Deleteone can learn much by paying attention to Mainstream Media ‘thought leaders’ & examples of their ‘patterns of behaviour.. ie the nature of their ‘public output..
ReplyDeleteCouple this with the ‘litigious evolution - more & more evident by the day plus the talent of Political Parties embracing & embedding Public Relations / Robo Polling / Propaganda Generators / DataTanks & WebCrawlers / ‘Charitable Think Tanks / Viral Boosterism / Evangelical Entities
We’re in an entirely New Paradigm when Elected Public Servants are merely ‘Fronts’ for Big Vested Interest..
We’re way way Past my initial awareness of ‘Situational Ethics’ now.. into outrageous Deceit & Denial
The strident.. nay shrill opinionator Mound may refer to is trapped within their own ‘Binary Framing re ‘The War in Palestine..
Note the evolution too - within his ‘lockstep commenting brethren’
ps - note that Pierre Poilievre - the Elected Public Servant of Carleton Federal Riding has utilized That Riding, CDN Taxpayer Paid Salary & Expenses plus Political Funding to become the Most Prolific & Most Accessed - Political News Source In Canada - Are we getting this ? Pierre Poilievre has ‘Become MEDIA’ - Apotheosis of the Partisan Public Servant ?
🦎🏴☠️
What constitutes real news today is becoming an endangered commodity, Sal. It is far easier and cheaper simply to accept the fiats of 'opinion-makers' than it is to dig for substance. I find myself everyday wondering why, for example, the media give free voice to Trump after each day in court. Oh, how it would diminish the Orange One if no one paid attention to his babble, eg. "We are so completely innocent. No one has ever seen anything like this." Indeed, Don.
Delete.. without ‘Yellow Spectrum Media’ - Pierre Poilievre Inc would be just another ‘Apex Parasitic Malignant Narcissist..I do not believe a significant number of Canadians comprehend how perfectly Parasitology encompasses Pierre Poilievre & the Jenni Byrne led ‘Reform/Alliance’ - ‘Big Tent’ - Just look at how even Jason Kenney was ‘consumed by a more virulent Parasitic attack from within ‘The Host’ ie Alberta 🦎🏴☠️
DeleteThe problem of people accepting at face value PP's pronouncements points to a deeper underlying problem, Sal: a dangerously uninformed, uneducated electorate, aided and abetted by unethical, pandering journalists.
