A Timely Reminder

George Carlin died in 2008, but the following could have been performed last night. Although some of the language is coarse, it somehow seems entirely appropriate:

    1. You're welcome, Anon. I only wish that we no longer had need of such reminders and insights.

  2. Carlin was really something Lorne. Off and on, I still go on youtube to listen to him. Your right that what he said back then, can be applied to todays political and economic scenario.

I've also listened to Martin Luther King's Massey lectures. I forget the year when he gave these lectures. What struck me though was, like Carlin, what king had to say can also be applied to today's political, economic and military culture.

Carlin performed using his critical thInking and knowledge in the context of comedy and in so doing, he also educated his audience. Not an easy thing to do. Thx. for posting.

    1. I remember how, in the old days when he was transitioning from a simple comedian into a searing social critic, Pamela, Carlin came in for a lot of criticism for his language. It seemed that many people then refused to acknowledge the truth of his observations, choosing only to denigrate the vehicle by which he delivered them. I suspect that those who watch him today understand exactly what he was doing, and in my view, nobody did or does it better, even today.

Remarkable how so little progress has been made to address his criticisms, isn't it?
