Cool And Rational

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, and I suggested to him that people like us (we who strive to be rational, critical thinkers) are an endangered species and becoming largely irrelevant in the world today.

It is good to know, however, that there are passionate and articulate people who refuse to go down without a magnificent fight. Politics Girl, an American voice of sanity, is one of those people. And, by the way, her observations are relevant to our country as well, especially given that many simple-minded people blame #justinflation for all of our economic woes.

    1. Many thanks for the link, lungta. The lacerating commentary should be viewed especially by all those who treat real democracy with disdain.

  2. "Russia wants to take over a sovereign nation" she says. Yup that's gotta be it. Can't be anymore complicated than that right?

    1. While one may not agree with everything she says, MC, Politics Girl is willing to steadfastly offer a counterbalance to the nonsense that passes for thinking these days. I find her quite refreshing.

  3. OK; she's Democrat!
That said she has some truths to tell especially about inflation etc, yada yada.
We should also consider that the western world has, since covid, had it's biggest ever , as in recorded history, socialist solutions to the worlds capitalist economic system!
FWIW; it irks me that many of those that gleefully took taxpayer Dollars$$ to survive covid now
Both individuals and corporate companies have benefited from government/taxpayer largess to continue the status quo!!
Whilst prop up the ponzi scheme of free enterprise without constraint we do but lip service to combating climate change.

    1. Unfettered capitalism is truly the enemy of almost all of us, Anon. I'm not sufficiently conversant with other aspects of what you say to comment further. That being said, one of the biggest sins in my mind is the ongoing multi-billion-dollar subsidies for the fossil fuel industry. The latest reports say that industry, despite its record profits, has done nothing to invest in emission-reduction. Instead, they have increased their dividends for their shareholders.

  4. The oil companies have just recorded record profits. We're not talking rocket science here.

    1. Unfortunately, Owen, our government can only express disappointment that the oil companies aren't doing what they promised about reducing emissions. Apparently, no one has the intestinal fortitude to force them to act.
