Call The Libertarians!

Reader Brian sent this along to me this morning. Enjoy!

Though they've been a tad quiet during the CoVid 19 Semi-Apocalypse, all you need to do to get by is put your trust in the folks who can solve any problem:

The Libertarians!

  1. I am coming to the view that there is a small but significant segment of the population that feels themselves put upon, their freedom denied. America is founded on a somewhat dubious idea that the Pilgrims came to escape religious persecution in England. Fair enough. Those who quest for freedom from societal persecution - whether it manifests in gun control, or action to curb greenhouse gas emissions, mass vaccination, lockdowns to dampen the spread of pandemics, or any of their other complaints - ought to follow the example of those Pilgrims and simply bugger off to a new place where they don't have to interact with the majority or conform to their mores and rules. Find a tract of land, 10 square miles should be a good start. They could have paved roads or dirt, electrical utilities or not, sanitation systems of whatever sort they desired, schools but probably not, healthcare to their liking. They could raise their own taxes or not. And we would erect gates so that we could not intrude upon them and further persecute them or have to put up with their whining lunacy ever again. Then, once every year or two, we would check to see if any remained alive and, if not, simply bulldoze the ruins and reforest the area.

    1. Point well-taken, Mound. The 'rugged individualists' we keep seeing and hearing about, especially during this crisis, are ultimately their own worst enemies. And, as a side note, I doubt they see the irony (hypocrisy?) of protesting about how Covid-19 is a 'false flag' and a deep state plot while wearing protective masks.

    1. The video captures that truth rather nicely, I think, Owen.
