It is to weep. I still believe there is a large proportion of humanity that is trying to do ... the right thing. I think the key is they - we and us too - stick with it. When optimism is finally lost ... all is lost.
So, I propose a toast, Churchillian style. To those in peril on the sea. Safe harbour.

Point well-taken, James. There are a lot of good people in the world, people who are kind, compassionate and non-judgmental. We are right to call out behaviour that is worthy of condemnation, but those who engage in it are not the majority. Thanks for the reminder.
