George Orwell Meets Rudy Giuliani
"Truth isn't truth," proclaims the increasingly zany and demented uncle known as Rudy Giuliani. Start at the 1:20 mark to take the full measure of the man, the man he represents, and the fulfillment of George Orwell's direst warnings:
I'm thinking in these days of Trumpisim and Fordisim that both 'Nineteen Eighty Four' and 'Animal Farm' should be required reading for both up and coming voters and many current 'adults'. Doublethink is thriving as the Pigs take over is it not Lorne ? .......
.. this is the era of political parasites. Also the era of extreme double standards and of course the era of serial (daily) deceit & lying. I detest the term 'fake news' or use of 'sad' at the end of tweets. Lately I have sought out analogies to simplify what appears to be going on in North American 'politics'. Re-writing or tearing up legislation is a contemporary failing. That phenomena, whether delivered by Doug Ford or Donald Trump is disastrous. The overall combination means captured or beholden political parties, or individuals with any sort of 'majority' may inflict their personal wishes or those of their largest donors upon a dazed and confused voter population - all with the help of controlled mainstream media. Of course its also a wonderful time to 'seed' the judicial ranks with partisans, appoint extreme or corrupt partisans to Cabinet or Secretary posts, replace Ambassadors and load 'the seat of power' with thugs like Steve Bannon or Ray Novak. These backroom operators permeate political parties & then we get to the hordes of lawyers, such as Giuliani. These types no longer work in the courts, but rather are parasites. And here we are, back where I started.
Stephen Harper's 'genius' was not Economics.. it was daily Deceit & Manipulation, often delivered with able assistance from hordes of back room black ops and propaganda zealots and creeps. I don't know for sure, or to what extent but those back room and front room ops seem to operate with a sort of political racism, sneering at the citizenry, bending and warping reality, rushing to launch litigation, denials.. and whispering in the ear of the Harpers Fords Trumps - the Christy Clarks, Trudeau, Scheer etc. Propaganda, Media Manipulation amd Distraction from the grand deceptions are flourishing wildly. Its a constant smokescreen being pumped out and pimped by lazy pretend journalists. How else did we end up with a greasy wanker like Peter Kent - Minister of Environment or Andrew Scheer as Speaker?
The Trump appointees are classic middleweight or lightweight robber barons operating under stunning double standards or get out of jail free presidential pardon. Too big to jail ? Somebody will take the fall. Here comes Manafort, wrapped up like a turkey by Mueller and yet a jury is tied up in knots, by cut and dried forensic evidence ! And the president of the United States is howling daily & constantly that the trial is a setup, a farce, a crime. Here in Canada, the leader of the Opposition, Scheer.. is screetching the Energy East Pipeline must be resurrected, to provide cheaper energy security for Canadians. Its all become laughable, hysterical. Jenni Byrne is back! Working for Doug Ford ! There is no shame now, they simply lie to our faces and dare us to try and keep up to the daily deceits and evasions.. the complete corruption and sellout
As Shakespeare famously said in his play Hamlet, Sal, "The time is out of joint". Unfortunately, I don't see anyone on the horizon who can "set it right".
