  1. Another Harper appointee ... that already says a lot.

Not only has he raised the ire of the jolly interns, Jason Kenney is scolding him too, so he is getting it from all sides.

    1. Given that Poloz's position pays a salary of between $431,800 and $507,900 per annum, I suspect he has a very thick skin, Anon.

  2. Unpaid apprenticeships are an old British practice designed to preserve the class system. In London in the 60s I met a couple of young guys who had entry-level jobs in major British banks. Their well-to-do parents covered their costs for the first two or three years following which they went on substantial salaries from the bank. In this way these good jobs were reserved for the children of affluent families. Working class riff-raff couldn't afford to take them and knew better than to try.

When my daughter first returned to Vancouver with her degree from Columbia she too had to endure a stretch of pretty demeaning internship. At one of her jobs she even had to walk the boss's dog and for minimum wage. I stayed out of it but I had an urge to introduce my fist to a face or two.

    1. My daughter also had some unpaid internships, Mound, most of which, despite the 'job' descriptions, turned out to be largely clerical and menial as well.
