The other day I posted a link to a remarkable video showing Dr. Chris Keefer interrupting Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver's announcement at Toronto General hospital to protest Bill C-31, the legislation that will deny to those claiming refugee-status life saving drugs.
Bernie Farber has written a piece in The Huffington Post lauding the doctor's courage and integrity as he further explores the implications of this legislation.
Dr. Keefer has made the classic mistake of thinking the CON's give a damn about his opinions.
ReplyDeleteOLIVER is a turd, in my view. The whole CON cabinet are turds.
But thanks Keefer for trying.
The resistance is building and hopefully will crest by 2015.
You are probably right about that, but I think the real value in people like the good doctor speaking up is what he inspires in others.
Delete"inspires in others" - Lorne, you said it best. That's why I continue to support rabble rousers. It may be "thuggery" to some, but in these desperate times we need disobedience and people using the only means they have to speak their minds. Without a media, what other choice to we have?
ReplyDeleteJymn, I completely agree. The day people stop speaking out and demonstrating in whatever way they can is the day we have truly been defeated.
