Just looking at the world today, it is clear that Americans never learn their lesson when it comes to 'excursions' into other countries, all of which have proven disastrous for the world. It is the essence of their hubris.
The only American to have understood this is Bernie Sanders who, in 2010, had this to offer:

American exceptionalism. Most Americans think that they and their country are special. However, most Americans, including many in their government, could not find Iran on a map. They still wonder where Vietnam is.

ReplyDeleteThe USA always claims to be bringing some kind of “democracy ” to the poor oppressed country. I do have a problem recalling all those countries the USA has attacked since 1900 that immediately became model democratic countries but I may be missing some. Haiti? CRhile?
Besides, why would a country with different cultural, political and religious traditions want to emulate a country formed by a bunch of elite, often slave owning, white males remarkable for its imperialism and willingness to practice ethnic cleansing?
It took the USA roughly 100 years to go from a small republic on the East coast of North America to conquering the Philippines.
It is not clear that many US citizens can find the USA on a map let alone Iran.
Have you seen Tucker Carlson's interview with Ted Cruz? Cruz's almost total ignorance of anything about Iran was amazing. He did not even know what its population was.

I suppose we have on reason to be grateful to the USA. THey took Cruz. The thought of Poilievre and Cruz in the House can induce nightmares!
