One cannot help but be impressed and inspired by Mark Carney's speech at Davos. I encourage you, if you have the time, to listen to it in its entirety. No matter what critics may say, in my view Carney is the right man to be
representing Canada at this perilous time.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteMy reaction exactly, Toby.
ReplyDeleteI have not heard it but I just finished reading the transcript! As Toby says,"Wow".
ReplyDeleteAn interesting comment on the speech Arnaud Bertrand's comment
I think Carney has just declared war.
Come to think of it the Globe and Mail just had an article about the Canadian Armed Forges doing some modelling about a US invasion.
Carney's speech, in my view, Anon, is exactly the shot in the arm that all Canadians, and much of the world, need. It certainly restored my faith in Carney's leadership; what follows remains to be seen. And thanks for the link.

DeleteYes, it was quite something.
I think I'm going to disagree with a lot of his internal policies; he strikes me as more of a Red Tory than a middle-of-the-road Liberal but it's nice to have a PM who is not totally clueless on the international stage.
I mentioned earlier that given his background he does not seem to think like a normal politician and I think this shows it. Picking Davros as a place to make this speech may have been a stroke of genius.
That his speech received a standing ovation at Davos suggests the quality of his words, Anon. They are certainly being heard and commented on around the world.
