It was either you or Mound or Owen who made a comment quite some time ago remarking on Greta Thunberg and being mightily impressed? I am too! A 16 year old savant, I use the word advisedly, has managed to raise the issue to another level of urgency. Let's call it the 'Thunberg Effect?'
I am all for it. She held a mirror up to the faces of those who may be able to navigate this quagmire. And told us exactly what we look like. And no amount of lipstick is going to make us look better.
Well-said, James. I think that her autism (Asperger's, I believe) enables her to see and comment on the world without the kind of dishonest and meaningless language our politicians are so used to employing. As an old Russian saying goes, "Better a bitter truth than a sweet lie"!
I fear Canadians still don't have a sense of the urgency of the climate crisis. We can still expect 70 per cent plus to vote for Scheer or Trudeau. We don't have time to squander another four years and yet that's the path we're on.
.. going to stay in my own contrary pasture right now.. I need to hear from the Green candidate.. Tolley ? With no first name on his signs.. I will look into the performance and voting record of Ms Julie Dabrusin, the Liberal incumbent.. the NDP candidate has wads of $ for signs.. all over the riding but no sign of her.. Conservative ? No signs I have seen.. no Rhino or Communist either. This is a riding of old Greeks being supplanted by young Muslim families.. and adjoins Beaches-East York.. repped by highly capable Nathanial Erskine-Smith. How 'the boss' will vote I do not know.. and would never ask.. She sees me as a dude with Harper Derangement Syndrome.. and I guess that fits.. though Scheer inspires me to puke in a bag as well.. I will keep my cards.. won't fold.. how much to stay in this hand, anyone's guess.. Ya wanna see poker face ? Look at me.. Aint no tell, ever.. just sittin easy .. Scheer gets a minority, though.. I stand up, leave the country.. gets a majority I stand up and take the table into earth orbit with me.. and leave the country behind.. how's that ?
The uncertainty over the upcoming election is on the minds of many, Sal, and each must make his/her choice according to a measured consideration, not a reflexive reaction, to the candidates and issues.

ReplyDeleteI think you are right, Mound. Nonetheless, this time I am voting for who is right, the Greens, come what may.
