Connecting The Dots

While concern grows daily about the increasing toll climate change is exacting, people still have a hard time connecting it with their daily practices. Sadly, this cognitive dissonance is being facilitated by poor media coverage of the primary cause of our many natural disasters. The following Global News report addresses this pressing issue.

  1. .. great post.. tremendous video.. that's what I call 'responsible journalism' - with your OK I would post your blog entry to my Facebook page. I'm trying to utilize all my social media assets and access in aid of Environment, Habitat, Species currently.. as well as my 'creative' fiction. One very striking aspect of the video report was of course, the impact of children in breaking through the barriers of ignorance or adult apathy.. haha.. the kids bringing home and conveying to adults, the message.. what a concept eh ? The payoff of Education !

  2. .. muchos gracias .. ! I really like personal Facebook posting - refreshing, inspiring, stuff I come across. Facebook to me is mainly family, friends, my son's friends etc

Twitter to me is more the loose association that I 'follow' .. and where I refresh, update re current events, not really about or aimed at the folks who follow me.. and I'm far more critical, even scathing there at times. Its like short verse rather than literature.. where I may spend days polishing a single chapter of a novel in progress

I believe I have posted certain work from Progressive Bloggers several times on Facebook.. I also post to both social media, certain things I come across on Youtube. Great literature or film review, great editorial writing, comdedy, satire, amazing live music links etc often end up being linked

I also have a floating email link group I will send great editorial reportage - writing or art.. but I am very selective with the email addresses depending on the topicality and if I think it would interest them. My niece is not interested in Caribbean bonefish for example

In a way this follows on your post.. where it hit home, that children can indeed inspire adults. I must examine that more. Yes I am a parent.. and my son grown up.. but how can I assist other children ? Surely I can

Today I will pimp Tom Thomson.. who I follow on Twitter.. his Canoe Lake that was posted today, stuns me. The lighting he captured, I know to be fleeting.. even momentary and the idea crashed onto me me that he must have had some kind of elevated 'photo memory' One could not paint that 'in situ' in 5 minutes.. not even a chance. He was a fabulous naturalist, astonishingly prolific painter and sketcher and his diaries fascinate.

I hope our children - more children - get to sit on the shores of Canoe Lake, spend several days. Justin Trudeau, to his credit announced such a program yesterday in Sudbury. Accordingly he was lauded by United Nations. But David Akin via Twitter droned that it was 'odd' .. a United Nations spokesperson doing so in the midst of a foreign national election. Well gee Mr David Akin - so called journalist and bureau 'chief' - thanks for nothing.. but personal or partisan angst

My point Lorne.. should be obvious and scathing.. as was my Twitter retweet .. It was classic 'bah humbug' lazy reportage.. that failed to mention 'the point' - failed to mention the children, or a canoe... It left me angry, left me disturbed.. but then complete failure of Mainstream Media or 'Public Servants' tends to have that effect on me.. I aint done yet.. Mr David Akin will be getting a link to today's Tom Thomson posting on Twitter.. a stiff, blunt reminder of what 'journalism' requires.. will he find it 'odd' ? Canoe Lake mr Akin.. Canoe Lake.. don't miss the boat.. er.. the canoe

    1. The preciousness of what Tom Thompson captured, Sal, prompts me to put a link to a story last night on Global News I think you will enjoy; it is about how the T'Sou-ke Nation on the West Coast has embraced sustainable living so that the generations that follow can enjoy nature as it has: https://globalnews.ca/video/rd/2b52b18f-e0ba-11e9-808b-0242ac110006/?jwsource=cl
