A Good Friday Observation

A friend sent this along. I hope it prompts some sober reflections on this Good Friday.

  1. The contrast should be stark enough for all of us to see, Lorne.

    1. But when it comes to the opportunity for a tailgate party, Owen, I know some people in a certain province who would favour the figure on the left.

  2. I have never understood the high dollar, individuals are willing to forfeit to watch something that is truly meaningless in the scheme of things as it contributes nothing to the improvement of a better society for all. When I was young, I enjoyed participating in various sports and as a father it was something I looked forward to as a supporter of my children; it had meaning.

I'm always amazed by the cost of a ticket, let alone the block of seasonal reserved seat accommodations and wonder who has the means of providing for such extravagance. Then I realize, I am, because for the companies, it is a CRA tax write off, or entitlement, which, I though not entitled to, is expected to make up the difference through my personal limited tax deductions and be thankful. The cost of "Open For Business" is obvious, as the unentitled, we must be thankful to learn the order of things for us, in the Ford Nation.

In addition, with his new promotion of tailgate parties, etc., one person wrote an editorial and in it he used the movie It's a Wonderful Life and compared Ford to Potter. This is the way I see Ford, frustrated because he didn't become mayor and is making Fordville/Potterville Ontario in his image. Stomping on those who deserve support and rather than providing an opportunity to improve their lives, he unilaterally changes and rescinds the agreed to contracts.

Ford opens new less restrictive government regulations for the opportunists to employ the pay for access trough or if they are new to lobbying, the simple suckling of the government's tit while they learn and grow, all the while claiming how they are self-reliant and self-made.

I wonder, when Ford gets his van, how long it will be before he requests a specially outfitted OPP cabin cruiser with sleeping for eight and an oversized mini bar with an enlarged galley for those exhausting, demanding special late night police investigations.

When I was teaching, I often asked the students about the value of a person and the monetary remuneration they received. I always asked them, who was the most important person in the school, and after the responses were written on the board. I would discuss with them why I felt it was the custodians and secretaries.

    1. Well-said, Anon. Your assessment of things as they are show the debasement that currently carries the day in our society. Up is down; black is white. How do I know? My 'betters' tell me so.
