I wrote a comment earlier but it seems I failed to post it. So, here goes:
These numbers are jarring, especially when you consider the dates. The military deaths include the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan, the entire Iraq War and every other American military adventure in the ME and South Asia since 9/11.
The time frame given for school shootings is just six years, barely a third as many years. Given our respective populations, if we had this situation in Canada we would have seen over 700 school killings, over 100 a year in Canadian schools. That should put the madness in some perspective to those on the fortunate side of the 49th parallel.
When I first learned of this, Mound, after the 'shoe protest' in Washington, I was shocked by the numbers. It's almost inexplicable that America's 'leaders' do not feel the same way.

DeleteA nation run completely amok.
ReplyDeleteSometimes words fail me when I think about the U.S., Owen. 'A failed nation' hardly seems adequate.
