  2. I have had the opportunity to spend a bit of time over beers with a couple of climate scientists. They're all "we can do this" in public but, in private, it becomes "we're so screwed." I don't think they're lying to the public. It's just that they have no confidence that the political will exists to do what's necessary within the very limited time remaining in which to act. Ask yourself this, how many people do you know that would be willing to accept a significant reduction in their lifestyle today and for evermore if they were told it might help Canadians a couple of generations hence? Damn few, that's how many and so long as we're so selfishly bloody minded, no politician is going to do anything meaningful.

    1. True enough, Mound, and as long as we have politicians who lack any semblance of real leadership, the problem seems fated only to get worse.
