Just A Reminder

With an election in Ontario next June, Doug Ford has been trying to rebrand himself, somewhat unsuccessfully given his unusual capacity for stepping in it. Nonetheless, a little reminder from Patrick Corrigan serves to highlight Dougie's true nature and the values he really embraces.

  1. How did someone so politically inept rise to become Ontario's premier?

    1. I don't really have an answer, Mound. At the time, everyone was fed up with the Liberals; after the election, some said they had no choice but to vote Conservative, even though the NDP would have been a decent place to park their votes. That Ford was elected on virtually no platform speaks ill of Ontarians. It is a source of embarrassment for many of us.

  2. Ford caught the classic ‘perfect wave’
Liberal PM Kathleen Wynn was toast
Patrick Brown, OCP had ‘issues’ re young women / alcohol
and as always, into a void, something will flow
Thus by default, Doug Ford ..
A majority was his lottery bonus time

Unlike the unexplainable of Alberta UCP majority
the toxic buffoon was gifted a Ticket to Ride
with little or no useful opposition

  3. I agree that the opposition was weak, Sal; I had to hold my nose to vote for Horwath's party, not because of our local candidate, who is quite good, but because Andrea has outlived her usefulness as leader of the NDP. After the next election, barring good results, I hope she has the good sense to step down.

  4. There is a news blackout in Hamilton East that started sometime before the last provincial election, and has continued with one or two interruptions until the present. Many in the party would prefer that Andrea would have departed some time ago, but they're all too polite to do anything about it. Canvassers are the lifeblood of the party. They're going to have a hard time getting them if she stays.

    1. I think there comes a time in every politician's life when they have to ask themselves a question: Is my ongoing presence a help or a hindrance to the party? I get the sense that Andrea Horwath has not yet had that internal conversation.
