Unrelentingly Stupid

As odious as it is to stereotype people based on their geography or any other criteria, (actually, I do it all the time when talking about Americans) the following certainly serves to reinforce notions about Albertans.

As you will see, the sense of entitlement of this doofus is breathtaking. His comeuppance is gratifying to watch.

WARNING: because of  the driver's imbecilic nature, the language in both videos is crude and offensive.

As you will see in the next video, even after his arrest, he is unrepentant and wholly convinced of the righteousness of his cause. You will likely have to go directly to YouTube to watch it, as the language and defamatory comments make it age-restricted.

If you have the chance, read the comments arising from both videos. They reveal this clown's abject failure in garnering any sympathy whatsoever.

  1. Aside from his bad manners, he had no mind of the rules you need to obey when dealing with someone who has legal power over you in a potentially adversarial situation. He was probably never put the grab on by the police when he was a teenager. Even many of those who weren't would know better. I wonder how this interaction started.

    1. My understanding is that he got two tickets for stunt-driving, John. My guess: he is one of those dim zealots who prizes his 'freedom' as an absolute value. Any kind of even minimally nuanced thinking appears to be beyond his meagre capabilities.

    2. Making any type of gesture toward another driver that could potentially distract him can be interpreted by the police as a stunt. This can include flashing of the lights or high-beams to warn of a radar setup or even to concede right-of-way. Flipping the bird is a big one.

In Ontario, if you bolt off a light and make a left ahead of oncoming traffic, that’s stunting. I could have been grabbed for "bolting" only yesterday when the guy opposite me sat there waiting for the chickens. I jabbed the horn (more stunt driving) to get his attention, but he still sat there. Eventually I moved. It only occurred to him that he had a green light when I was almost through making my turn. He still didn't move though he could have safely done so, because my turn was just a split-second away from completion; he just sat there leaning on his horn. I guess he didn't know that he was stunt driving too. He could have been grabbed for an unnecessary use of it. There are a lot more stunt drivers out there than most people realize. When we legislate we often don't understand the power we're giving to the police. Then we get pissed off when we find out the hard way.

      Be careful out there.

  2. I watched those videos yesterday, Lorne, but had trouble mustering a response. I'm not a person of delicate sensibilities but that guy's venomous tirades were disturbing in that he is a specimen, an example of a broader, somewhat feral dysfunction that seems to be on the rise. Basic norms of human decency, the conventions that guide civilized interaction, have broken down or lost weight in some quarters. This guy repeatedly admits he's being an a$$hole but shows no shame, no remorse for it. He even expects to elicit sympathy and support for it. It's dispiriting.

    1. That he so unapologetically admits his disfunction, indeed is brazen about it, tells us all we need to know about him and his ilk, Mound. Watching such sad displays makes it hard not to feel cynical about our species.

    2. It's the growth and resilience of 'his ilk," Lorne that concern me
