Pensée Du Jour

Nothing profound, other than to say it is good to know that amongst the provinces, Ontario is not alone in its government's ineptitude.

  1. Guys like Kenney fancy themselves, at least initially, as masters of all they survey. From there comes the slide into hubris and, as the ancient Greeks understood, the arrival of nemesis. Ford, Kenney, what are these guys if not Greek tragedies? Those whom the Gods would destroy they first make mad (or at least arrogant).

    1. To paraphrase a comment I put on Owen's blog, Mound, his hubris is to be found in the fact that he has baldly put politics over people's lives. Next, as per Greek tragedy, comes the fall, one hopes.

  2. The libertarian epiphany turns blowhards into crybabies.

Playtime's over, children. It was bound to catch up with one unhappy gang of them. I keep thinking of that now even more hilarious picture of them on the cover of that magazine.

I know "dishandle" isn't a word; but it should be. It's the most appropriate way to describe what a libertarian who holds political power does in a situation when he actually has to do something. Most of them manage to get out before they have to deal with the effects of their piddling and neglect. These guys got caught.

    1. You are absolutely right, John. That they are in way over their heads has become abundantly clear during this pandemic, but don't expect them to emerge from it any the wiser; they lack the introspectiveness that would require. The only hope is that the electorate will mete out some much-needed justice.

  3. .. As I've probably mentioned before.. I pay close attention to Dr. Michael Warner - ICU Chief at Michael Garron Hospital.. just minutes away.. Plus having shot in all the major teaching hospitals and produced the resulting CME accredited videos for years, I 'get' how accomplished such Chiefs & Specialists and their teams are

In short 'They know their stuff' and they update 'best practices' constantly.. much like Educators do. It appears to me, that Kenney and Ford and their 'teams' don't care for the reality of who is getting infected or hospitalized or ending up in the ICU. Instead they are formulating decision making and 'action'based on Mainstream Media and Political Polls. ie what will appear to be 'the science' ..

Can you imagine if Healthcare & Education had been based on such foolish premise ?

    1. People like Ford and Kenney have much to answer for, Sal. I find it particularly vexing when Ford says that they are following the science. It is almost as if Alfred E, Neuman is their primary source of 'intelligence'.
