Very apt, Owen. Groucho had a pithy saying for every occasion. One of my favourites, which has nothing to do with the matter at hand, is this: "I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it."
The three of us are from an era in which severe weather events were not a steady diet on national newscasts. Weather was something reserved mainly for local news except when hurricanes or particularly damaging tornadoes occurred.
Now these reports of extended droughts or massive flooding have become a daily staple and, with that promiscuity, they're losing their impact, becoming a form of "creeping normalcy." And so we become the frog in the pot of boiling water.
That's very true, Mound, but on the other hand, I guess everyone deserves to be regularly reminded of the forces our self-indulgent lifestyles have unleashed, whether or not we pay heed to the images.
As Groucho said, Lorne, "Who are you going to believe? Me or your eyes?"

DeleteAbsolutely, Lorne. We may not like the outcome we foresee but that's no reason to give up the fight.
