The Art Of Misdirection

Some, I guess, are better at it than others.

  1. LOL. It would take many , many words to explain what Harper is doing. This cartoon says it all Lorne.

  2. Editorial cartoonists do have a knack, don't they, Pamela?

  3. Hi Lorne, I know this is off topic, but I know you like Dick Cavett, so do I. There is a really interesting video on YouTube about 7 min long. It's called
Oscar Peterson Piano Lesson, by David Funk. It sounds dull, but it's quite the opposite. It makes me think of one genius talking freely to another genius.

    1. Thank you, Pamela. I am a big jazz fan, and Oscar Peterson was, of course, one of the greats. I also really like Dick Cavett. In fact, I read both of his recent books, Brief Encounters and Talk Show. Both evoke earlier times that are good to remember.

    2. I've read Talk Show also. I didn't know about Brief Encounters though. thanks for mentioning it. I am a big jazz fan too and have seen many of the greats incluuding Oscar Peterson. Most have passed on. Don't know if you like Guido Basso. He and I used to cover all the Jazz bars. in 1989 at Roy Thompson Hall and her musicians were Guido Basso, Don Thompson on piano and Ed Bickert on guitar. I forget who was on base That was an amazing evening..

    3. Wow! Those are some well-known names, Pamela. I'm afraid I haven't seen any of the greats with the exception of McCoy Tyner, who was outstanding, and his connection with Coltrane made it a really special experience.

    4. I left out that it was Sarah Vaughan at Roy Thompson Hall in 1989.
I think we'd have to have a renaissance in order for that depth of talent to come our way again.
