That It Should Come To This

Who would have thought, eh?

H/t Moudakis

Also, I do hope Canada is planning a more robust response to the bully than is being reported thus far:

Canada is looking at levying retaliatory tariffs on a wide range of American-made goods including orange juice, ceramics such as toilets and sinks, and some steel products as part of a targeted response should Donald Trump proceed with a threat to impose a 25-per-cent tax on all products from Canada.

It doesn't sound much like the mouse that roared - more like the cat that meowed.

  1. I hope for a better response , that said when you go to war you do not tell your enemy of your plans.
I am sure wiser Americans are quite aware of this?
Trump plans to attack trade agreements between China , the UK and the EU.
A consolidated backlash against Trump could severely hurt the USA

    1. It would be nice to imagine a consolidated and widespread backlash, TB, but we can't even get that in our own country.

  2. Trump is not President yet. Let's wait and see what he actually does (but, prepare [somewhat secretly] nonetheless).

    1. Agreed, UU. Keep on hand a plan to implement if Trump does what he says he is going to do.

  3. I do not understand why we do not have FM Mélanie Joly and perhaps a couple of other relevant ministers, maybe, Agriculture and whatever Industry, Trade, and Commerce is called now either in Mexico City (better weather) or hosting their Mexican counterparts in Ottawa right now. Maybe we should include National Defence?

Threatening your two largest and physically closest trading partners may not be the best idea in the world. Especially while at the same time announcing you are planning on re-colonizing Panama.

    1. Unfortunately, Anon, Trump rarely thinks, only blusters and pontificates nonsensically. Whoever has to deal with him after the next election has their work cut out for them.

    2. Exactly. Trump thinks like a mafia boss. We just need to explain to him it will cost him more than he gets.

The real problem is Trump's new "cabinet" There looks to be a lot of real crazys there,. As a Canadian, I have no idea what a US "cabinet" consists of. Elon Musk and the White House cleaning staff?

Mind you as some one who had a job as a cleaner for a few months, I and my associates might have surpassed Musk.

    3. Showing the real cost of his tendencies vis a vis Canada might give Trump pause, Anon, although I wouldn't count on it. His cabinet will, of course, egg him on whenever they see the prospect of some personal advantage.

  4. As a passing thought, would an anti-US stance be a great liberal platform for a Liberal leader contender?

If I were a Liberal that would be my vote.

    1. The fear of provoking the tyrants has kept responses moderate and restrained thus far, Anon. Whether the leadership race changes that remains to be seen.
