Can anyone imagine, even in his most carefully choreographed 'photo ops' seeing our previous PM in his shirt sleeves helping newly arrived refuge children on with their winter coats? Yes indeed Canada is back!
After years of unmitigated government nastiness at home, the constant harpings of doom and gloom, the baying of the small-minded bigots against progressiveness, I'd almost forgotten that there is no valid reason not to be decent.
And much as I tend to be cynical about all manner of politicians fishing for photo ops, Trudeau's way with those children was so genuine, I feel pretty darn choked up actually.
The wonderful photo of the politicians mixed with Muslim refugees is uplifting - all the smiling faces makes me especially glad to rediscover the open, giving and accepting Canada I once knew. We never went away, we just got lazy under uninspiring leadership. Our vitality is back!
We have recovered our essential character, Lorne.
ReplyDeleteAnd it feels good, Owen, very good.

ReplyDeleteThere are limits to my imagination, Rural, and what you describe here is one of them.

Such a scene is truly moving, Anon.

DeleteTrudeau is making Canadians proud to be Canadians again Lorne.
ReplyDeleteIt is a pride that goes some distance in helping us to recover from the darkness of the Harper years, Pamela.
