Pensee Du Jour

We returned from Cuba yesterday morning around 4:00; without an optimal amount of sleep thus far, complicated by an intestinal bug I probably picked up from the buffet, I have not yet quite recovered from our island holiday. Nonetheless, I hope to be back up and running (perhaps an unfortunate choice of words) by tomorrow.

I think I'll spend today getting caught up on the blogs and the news, the latter of which was in short supply where we stayed. The CNN channel, which we don't subscribe to here, seemed to have made the tragedy in San Bernadino into a full-time series, thereby depriving me of any knowledge of what might be happening in the rest of the world.

I am especially keen to learn about progress at the Paris Climate Change Summit, as there was barely a peep about it on the above-mentioned network. If the following is any indication, however, it sounds like we shouldn't be hoping for a breakthrough on our last chance to save the world:

    1. Thank you, Owen. It's good to be back home.

  2. Lorne, sorry to hear that you picked up bug. I hope you get well soon.

    Welcome back.

    1. Thanks, LD. I think I'm about 80% recovered.

  3. Hey, Lorne, welcome back. Sorry to hear about the Green Apple Two-Step. Sooner or later those who travel south are bound to wind up with something wonky. This too will passs - sorry, couldn't help myself.

As for the climate summit there's not much to report. There usually isn't in these summits until the joint statement is made public at the very end and, even then, it takes a while for it to be digested.

In your absence I filled in on the Christo-nutjob beat. Two fun posts yesterday. One from an evango fascist who claims God didn't intervene to stop the San Bernardino massacre because he was just too pissed off over abortion. The other one involves Jerry Falwell Jr. (who knew?) urging students at his Liberty University to conceal carry handguns so they can "end those Muslims." They're nice, short posts - just the thing when you're in between trips to the throne.

    Never mind, I'm just jealous.

    1. Thanks for the report, Mound. I am just getting myself reacclimated to the political scene. I shall check out your posts to help reeducate myself.

As for the throne, let's just say I now have a newfound respect for the burdens royalty entails.
