I remember in 1975 seeing the film Jaws. Like most people, it terrified me, so much so that it was many year before I got up the courage to go into the ocean.
Perhaps it is time for a re-release of the film, given that warming waters due to climate change are increasing the chance that those venturing into the waters off the eastern seaboard could fall victim to the fierce marine predators.
The message? Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Sadly, all of this is yet another sign of the unfolding ecological collapse that the world's leaders will continue to ignore.
The Great Marine Migration is well underway. Creatures are moving poleward on both sides of the equator. I suppose they haven't heard that this is all a hoax.

DeleteIt certainly is impacting the commercial fisheries, Lorne. The salmon in California and southern Oregon may soon be gone, lost to rivers that are too hot to allow the spawn to hatch. On the East Coast the fabled Maine lobsters are leaving for cooler waters in Nova Scotia. On the West Coast we're getting all sorts of newcomers from Humboldt "Red Devil" squid to a return of the humpback in impressive numbers.
