John Baird, A Friend Indeed
Want $1 million of taxpayers' money for a project that fails to meet government criteria? If he is your 'dear friend,' call Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird for intervention that hardly qualifies as 'divine'.
That is quite the hefty contribution from the HRSDC Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities. The average local level recipient usually receives less than $100,000 for such improvements as wheelchair accessibility etc. You might think this community group was running a training program for the disabled given the hefty contribution.
Also, if you check out the Proactive Disclosures from HRSDC of recent years, you'll see that many religious groups and churches have been accessing this program in recent years. Ditto the Youth Employment Strategy fund.
