That G&M article really drops the ball. We have three new facts known: (1) Peter MacKay is known to lie about the reasons he takes helicopter flights in Newfoundland by claiming they were training flights; (2) one year before the present incident, he flew to the exact same spot near a friend's fishing lodge and landed there; and (3) supposedly that trip was part of a demonstration flight, as opposed to, say, a quick visit to his friend's cottage.
We can draw the dots between those points any way we like, but it sounds to me like MacKay's misuse of SAR helicopters is habitual, not a one-off.
