Apocalypse Explained

American news likes to focus only on the human drama that ensues when disaster strikes. In contrast, Global National, clearly less fettered by corporate fiat, takes the time to analyse the reasons behind the disaster. The following report by Eric Sorenson explains the science behind the apocalypse engulfing California, and yes, that science includes the use of a term one almost never hears in mainstream media south of the border, climate change.

  1. What a mess. The annual 8 month Rain Festival has begun up this way, ending the threat of new wildfires for another season, we hope. Dodged a bullet this year.

The changes in the wildfire season and the area impacted are as useful metrics of climate change as sea level measurements. Out of season heatwaves of the sort you just experienced (golfing in Ontario in February, etc.) are another example. Europe is about to be hit by hurricane Ophelia. You could take a globe, throw a dart and, wherever it hit, there would be some local climate change underway. And we make smug arguments about the need to get bitumen onto tankers.

    1. The entire situation, including the willful acts of misdirection by our government, Mound, absolutely sicken me. If fewer people lived in the eternal presence of the diversions they embrace, perhaps we could make some progress. Of course, that is a big "if," isn't it?
