The Wrong Friends In High Places

This is a selfie that neither Lloyd Axworthy nor The Mound of Sound would want to be included in, I suspect.

  1. Justin is treading on dangerous ground, Lorne.

    1. As Axworthy suggests in his article, Owen, Justin is taking bad advice from the wrong people.

  2. Any idea who those advisors are Lorne?

    1. A good question, Pamela. My thought is it could be a combination of the PMO and people like Gerald Butts.

  3. Just what is Justin doing? What is he thinking now and what was he thinking, or perhaps what was he told to say and think, during the recent election campaign? Would I be the first kid on the block to suggest that to observe this new federal government Dominic LeBlanc, not Trudeau, is the elected representative requiring attention? Which of the two was closer to Butts and, among the three, what was and is the pecking order?

Where has Freeland been sent to endure her briefings on the presentation she will have to make to ensure ratification of the CETA and TPP once the complication presented by the promised “fulsome discussion” has been dealt with? How much more of “what is done is done and the contract is not something that we'll revisit" should we expect to find among the flowers and the “sunny ways”?

Manley, Beatty, the Chretien-Desmarais gang, John Rae, Sergio Marchi, CERC, all or some of the preceding and certainly other lesser-knowns from among their minions: Axworthy would know or at least he would have better guesses than most.

    1. These are excellent questions, John. Unfortunately, I doubt that any answers will be forthcoming.
