Are they right or wrong? You decide.

  1. If the CBC were to broadcast this ad, then the neocon politicians and journalists would be all over them like cheap perfume. I think the ad will be well distributed via other channels.

    And it is funny.... :)

    1. It is, isn't it, Anon? Perhaps mockery is the best way to deal with these reprobates.

  2. CBC is being destroyed from within as much as from without AKA Harper/CRAP/Reform by carefully appointed henchmen at the levers of administrative and creative power.

  3. I believe Marshall McLuhan would proclaim that 'CBC has already, virtually run the ad' .. By not running it, they gave it even more exposure, more validity.. they gave it controversy .. they gave it legs..

As for CBC .. I'm truly unclear why it is rejecting the 'Ad' .. yet seemingly has zero issue with airing Harper/Conservative make believe propaganda 'ads'. IE The Economic Action Plan that does not exist.

Does CBC feel threatened by The Harper Government.. Well, that's news !! A national story.. so run with it.. !!! Thus CBC failed itself and us by not airing the ad.

Now both the spoof ad and the Conservative ads succeed in making Stephen Harper look like a complete fool.. and though that should not be hard, credit is due.

By running the Harper Economic Action ads, CBC establishes that it supports freedom of speech for the government, fictional & farcical propaganda.. and in short CBC gives a big thumbs up to ultra expensive taxpayer supported piggish media hogwash with cutesy lipstick on it.

By refusing to air the spoof ad by Friends of Canadian Broadcasting, CBC completely conflicts itself by not providing the same respect for freedom of speech and opinion .. to clever accurate ultra low budget production and guerilla stye viral campaign

Is the moral of this story.. that

    - its OK to spend millions to lie to Canadian citizens via mass media (CBC) that you are attempting to take over via an omnibus bill.. if you are the government ..

    - its not OK as citizens to point out via that same taxpayer supported mass media (CBC) that you understand you are being lied to ?

There's an entire series of these spoof ads shot in the same location with an actor playing Stephen Harper.. all extremely well done ! I'm waiting patiently for ones with Ray Novak, Jason Kenny, Van Loan et al, played by actors that can do 'dreary' and self indulgent, sanctimonious and entitled .. with obvious comorbid mood disorders.. just like our political animals in government

    1. Double standards seem to the order of the day under this government, Salamander. A good recent case in point is the suspension of the E.I employee for blowing the whistle on the quotas set by the Harper cabal to catch so-called E.I. cheats, this, of course, while that same government has been quite cavalier about their Senate appointees' robbing of the taxpayer (Duffy Wallace, et al.) through fraudulent expense claims until their crimes became public knowledge.

  4. Channeling McLuhan .. 'The ad is running CBC'

and as described by another observer ..

"The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason.”

― Hunter S. Thompson, Generation of Swine

    1. There is little doubt, Salamander, that the days of quality journalism through conventional channels are numbered, if not over. That's the main reason I find myself increasingly turning to alternative sources such as The Real News, The Raw Story, Truthdig and Alternet.
